This particular weekend, we decided to simply "hang out" in Redondo Beach, for no particular reason.
And what a time was had!
We got a chance to browse the amazing fresh fish market.
Then we went on a boat ride around harbor. We got to see sea lions and lots of fish out of the glass bottom boat. Maggie even got to feed the fish.
The we checked out the live crab & lobster tanks. So many!
And finally, the lobster selected above was cooked, and we had a lovely meal. Seafood just doesn't get fresher than this! Yum!
After all of that, we played Frisbee in the park, followed by a viewing of the new LEGO Batman movie, which was a huge hit. They absolutely loved it!
And the best part of all, at the end of the day, they told me it was the best day of their lives.
I couldn't be more proud.
A what i say? A blobfish. BLOB. FISH. He repeats.
I tell him that is just plain nonsense. There is no fish named a "blobfish."
But he continues to protest.
Now as i do regularly with the minions, for better or worse, i offer him a wager. We shall check "the Google" to settle this once and for all. I say if there is a blobfish, i'll give him a quarter. If not, he will owe me one quarter.
Deal! He shouts.
As you can clearly see, i was out one quarter.
But! That's not the end of the story!
Suspending disbelief that not only that i was wrong, and there is such a thing as a blob fish, the fact that this is the ugliest fish on the PLANET had the kids and i in stitches about the whole thing.
And so every now and then, when the kids need a pick-me-up, i'll hand them my phone. Maggie May will then say into the phone "ok Google, show me pictures of blobfish."
The phone dutifully then displays all of the top trending blobfish photos and the kids rile in laughter for the next five minutes straight.
One time in particular, they were laughing extra hard. I asked them to show me what it was they were laughing about.
That's when they showed me this:
Oh, i love the internet!
The first day was pretty much a total whiteout! Crazy difficult conditions. The powder was up to my knees! Crazy.
Some people's equipment was ready to go. Mine.... not so much. My boots that had been sitting in a bag in the closet for the last 10 years, essentially disintegrated immediately when put on. You read that right. The last time i went skiing was TEN YEARS AGO! Holy smokes!
After that very difficult and sticky day, a drink at the local Mammoth bar, Tusks, was most definitely called for.
The next day proved to be P-E-R-F-E-C-T! The weather was immaculate, and the snow storm from the night before made the runs TOTALLY skiiable. I loved it!
Skiing is much more fun with others!
Visiting Mammoth Brewery with the whole crew.
Ready to hit day three! The Mammoth shuttle made getting around pretty easy.
Nights in the cabin were spent enjoying craft beer, wine, and playing games.
Black Doubt Brewery adjacent to our cottage proved quite delicious as well.
Had some amazing views on the loooong drive home. But with the awesome ladies in my car, and plenty of Disney music, the ride was unexpectedly enjoyable. I can't wait to do it again!
Thanks to the awesome 7 that made it a great trip! #TravelingRocks
