~ Stare at the sky if you wonder why ~
Way up in the Lucerne Valley of California, in a dry lake bed, twice a year a great even takes place:
I was talked into this by a co-worker. Reluctant at first, in the end the kids loved it, and i'm thrilled i got to go. Thanks Ariel!! Albeit brief, and waaaaaaaaaay too much traffic (thanks California), we had an amazing time camping and watching rockets launch.
This was also the first time ever
the kids built their own rockets, and launched them.
These future trailblazers are well on their way to changing the world! Huzzah!
Bye Bye Office
I've been working at Aerospace for 16 years. A few years ago, we got a new CEO.
The good thing is that the CEO recognizes that the group i work in (now know as xLabs) is simply top notch and should be absolutely recognized and celebrated.
The bad news is that his way of doing this is to completely and literally demolish half of our building and make it into a giant "open space" akin to your silicon valley startups.
Unfortunately, that doesn't work well for engineers. Also, despite almost universal push-back, we don't have a say in any of it. And we have all spent the last month emptying out our offices and packing up decades of history and accomplishment.
So here's my goodbye to my office, where this wall of memories i've been collecting for almost 10 years, was taken down last week.
Hey, at least i still have a job!
The past and Awesomeness
My minions love
water, and have been on the swim team for a number of years. And the longer they swim, the more important their times become to them, as they are a litmus of their perfromance and improvement.
They regularly ask me how fast I was when I was in high school. My response is always "fast." But that's simply not good enough. They want hard
So I did some digging.
And I found all of the swimming records kept by my high school since their inception in 1987. Turns out i was quite fast
indeed, as i still hold the oldest
JV swimming record for my school, by over 10 years!!
Here are the rest of the records as of 2019:
