Arizona under attack
It appears like the incompetent federal government is really showing their true colors. Unwilling to do anything meaningful about the torrent of illegals flowing into the southern states, it is attempting to prevent the states from doing what they need to do themselves. Eric Holder and the Justice Department are suing Arizona to prevent them from implementing a new law, modeled directly after the federal law, to stem the tide of illegals. At the very least, this is a waste of resources and time for our government. At the worst, it is pitting state versus nation and attempts to cause serious strife in what are patently local problems. This is even more embarrassing than the president giving his ill-facted opinion of the Boston police department after the scuffle that lead to the infamous beer summit.
Below are a few excerpts from a letter signed by 20 US Congressmen/Senators decrying this ridiculous attempt by the federal government to cover for their own incompetence. I like it because it succinctly addresses all of the main points that keep coming up about the true nature of this law. Read it and i challenge you to find even one thing that Arizona is doing wrong.
The Department of Justice’s challenge to the Arizona immigration law is baseless—just check the facts and read the bill.

While DOJ officials have claimed Arizona ’s law promotes racial profiling, the law expressly prohibits racial profiling four separate times. It would also be beneficial for Arizona ’s opponents to take note that illegal by definition is a crime, not a race.

In addition, DOJ claims that the Arizona law requires non-citizens to carry identification that they wouldn’t otherwise be required to carry. However, federal law requires non-citizens, including visitors and Green Card holders, to keep their registration documents with them at all times. The Arizona law simply requires non-citizens to follow the federal law!

DOJ officials have also claimed that the Arizona law will grant sweeping authority to police officers to stop people on the streets in order to question them about their immigration status. However, individuals may not be stopped simply on suspicious grounds and asked for their papers. The Arizona law only takes effect if and after a police officer has made a lawful stop, detention or arrest in the enforcement of any other law or ordinance of a county, city or town.

All in all, it is clear this lawsuit reveals the Obama administration’s contempt for immigration laws, the people of Arizona , and for the majority of the American people who support Arizona ’s efforts to reduce human smuggling, drug trafficking and illegal immigration. Arizona has taken a reasonable and constitutional approach to dealing with a problem that has been ignored – and exacerbated – by the Obama administration.
