it's really NOT Yuccy!
Last night my roommate had his soon-to-be-step-family over. I wonder if people actually say that. It was his soon-to-be-step-mom and soon-to-be-step-brother with his girlfriend (who's soon-to-be-name i have no clue).
So none the less it was quite a full house. They had a merry time and cooked up a huge feast.

So Anthony invites me to partake in this meal. With the smells wafting thought the house, how could i resist?
Now i should note that the soon-to-be-in-laws are from Brazil. They speak Portuguese, listen to Brazilian music (ie - salsa), and cook (evidently) Brazilian meals. This last part is the important part. The food. I would have figured that they just ate rice and beans like most South American countries. Alas, this is not so. They actually have good food!

For the first time EVER i got to taste a wonderful food called Yucca Root.

As the name implies, it is from the Yucca plant. I've seen this little bugger in the grocery store before, right next to the yams. But i never bought him. Or her. I don't know which floral gender this vegetable is.
None the less, it was delicious! I went back for thirds! I'd have to describe this as somewhat of a cross between a carrot and a potato. It's mildly crunchy, lightly sweet, and has a semi-white transparent color to it. It's cooked by just boiling it in a pot.
I highly recommend trying this vegetable at some point. Its' a wonderful compliment to meats, and I am it’s newest fan.
